A Corner Where Magic Appears in Its Waters and Sunsets
Croatia: A Country of Crystal-Clear Waters, History, and a Warm Atmosphere 🇭🇷
Croatia is a destination that never ceases to amaze those who visit. After spending several months exploring this country during our Eurotrip, we can say with certainty that it is much more than just a summer destination. With its impressive Adriatic coast, its history-filled islands, and its incredibly warm people, Croatia has earned a special place in our hearts. 🫶
Throughout our visits, we discovered that every season has its own charm. Although summer is the most popular season, traveling during other times of the year can offer a more tranquil and authentic experience. However, it is important to be well-informed before you travel, as many attractions might be closed during the off-season. ✨
Situated on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, Croatia has a history that dates back to antiquity. From the Roman era to the turbulent times of the Balkan wars, this country has been a crossroads of cultures and civilizations.
With a population of around 4 million people, Croatia is deeply marked by its past and shaped by the countless cultures that have influenced it. Proud and with a strong sense of community, Croatians are known for their dedication to keeping their customs alive, preserving their natural surroundings, and passing down their cuisine from generation to generation.
Croatia is much more than its paradisiacal beaches and picturesque coastal towns. Whether you’re looking for adventure, history, relaxation, or gastronomy, Croatia has something for everyone. Below, we share some of the most emblematic destinations you simply can’t miss:

🏰 Dubrovnik: The “Pearl of the Adriatic” needs no introduction. Experiencing it in person is another matter altogether: the views from high up in the city, the sunsets beyond the ancient walls, and the way the marble streets shimmer at dusk are simply unforgettable.
🌅 Split: Walking through Diocletian’s Palace was like stepping back in time. Seeing how the modern city interweaves with this historic site is truly impressive. From houses that are part of the ancient structures to a lively market in the palace’s basement, Split is a fascinating blend of past and present.
🎵 Zadar: If there’s one place that captivated us, it was the Sea Organ. Its unique and soothing sounds had us coming back again and again during the month we spent there. And its “Greeting to the Sun,” with a mesmerizing light show at sunset, completes a magical experience. They say the sunsets in Zadar are among the best in the world, and we couldn’t agree more.
🏙️ Zagreb: Its old town, with cobbled streets and outdoor cafés, invites you to lose yourself in its relaxed atmosphere. If you love art and history, the Croatian capital offers plenty to explore.
🌳 Plitvice Lakes National Park: Plitvice Lakes National Park is a natural spectacle comprising 16 lakes connected by waterfalls. With boardwalks that appear to float over the water, snow-covered paths, and a boat ride that left us speechless, our winter visit was completely worth it—even though some areas were closed due to snow. It’s a must-see for nature lovers, no matter the season!
But this topic deserves an entire chapter on its own… So get ready for our next post, where we’ll go into more detail about everything you can do in each Croatian destination! 🗺️✨

Flavors That Tell Stories 🍽️🇭🇷
Even though great food is never hard to find, Croatian cuisine truly won us over! The biggest surprise—after spending so much time away from home—was discovering dishes like milanesas, so similar to those in Argentina, but with a distinct Croatian twist. We sampled the traditional pašticada and incredible soups that made us feel as if we were dining at grandma’s house. Definitely, the flavors of Croatia are an attraction in themselves.
Exploring Croatia at Its Best 🌟🛤️
To experience Croatia to the fullest, we recommend planning your trip during the shoulder seasons, such as spring or autumn. These times are ideal for exploring without the summer crowds, enjoying pleasant weather, and admiring more serene landscapes. 🌅
If you travel in winter, make sure to check which attractions will be open, as some might be closed. Nonetheless, we visited Plitvice Lakes in winter and—even though some paths were inaccessible—we would do it again in a heartbeat. 🚶♂️✨
